The Road to NM Tri-Con 3: Mystery Guest Coming to NM Tri-Con
A mystery guest will be coming to NM Tri-Con. I dare not say who it is until it is official and written in stone. Nonetheless, I should give you a little background of who he is so you can see the quality of guests that Albuquerque Comic Con and New Mexico Tri-Con offer their attendees.
This artist/writer was very prolific in the 80s and 90s. He continued in comics into the 2010s. He has written or drawn for Charlton, Marvel, DC, and Valiant Comics. He was also an assistant editor under Jim Shooter. He also has a background in theatre and has co-founded an off Broadway theatre company and has been an artistic director for three theatre companies in his home state of Nebraska.

The Road to New Mexico Tri-Con 1
One of the premiere guests of New Mexico Tri-Con is Tom Felton. He is an actor and musician from Great Britain, perhaps best known for his portrayal of Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter Movie Series. He won the MTV Movie Award for Best Villain in 2010 and 2011 for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. His first post Harry Potter role was in last years Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

A sad day for Albuquerque Comic Con
Today is a sad day for Albuquerque Comic Con. If you will recall, there was a fundraiser for Stephen Peterson who was fighting cancer. Today he went on to be with the Lord and is teaching Angels how to play. Rest in Peace Little Man!!

Ghost Rider Creator Gary Friedrich
What Marvel/Disney is doing to Ghost Rider creator Gary Friedrich is truly deplorable. Last year, Gary Friedrich sued Marvel for rights on his creation Ghost Rider. Marvel countersued for $17,000 for revenue gained by Gary at conventions selling sketches and also an action to stop him from himself as the creator of Ghost Rider for financial gai. He is, however, allowed to sign Marvel Licensed Ghost Rider Products.
This affects us all, especially those of us who are convention fans. Imagine our favorite artists not being able to sketch for us our favorite character, for fear of being sued by Marvel/Disney. Imagine all the amateur Artists on Artist Alley not being able to sketch anything. This sets a legal precedent that can affect Comic Cons as we know it.
For myself, I am not buying nor supporting any Marvel or Disney Product. Comic Creators are the important element in "our" industry and it is their work that makes reading and collecting comics pleasurable and fun. Marvel is stiffling this creative process. Just read other comic creators' post on Facebook today. Today is a sad day.
